寄语

MICE is a concept that comprises a lot
of different subjects:
Meetings, Conferences and Exhibitions have a distinct character
of real time business, while Incentives are mostly seen as tool
for rewarding employees and business partners for past services
and motivating for future endeavours.
This means that the first three items are directly linked to
the field people are working in: one does not go to a conference,
meeting or trade show when there is no direct interest.
Obviously the decision where to go depends mainly on the scale
of existing business relationship and the importance of a destination
in a particular field.
As far as the travel industry is concerned, they will arrange
the usual business trips or groups of varying sizes to the places
where these things happen, e.g. important trade fairs and conferences;
company A has a subsidiary in country B so it is only natural
to meet there.
Incentives can apply to any field of business activity and can
take different forms: bonus, gifts, free tickets for popular
events, etc. Thus the travel industry is facing competition
from other producers of goods and services. The idea of incentive
travel (as originated in the USA) is to give people something
they either would not be able to afford themselves or add on
some extras to existing packages, they would not dream of spending
money themselves on. A key element of such trips is obviously
the team spirit, belonging to a select club of achievers.
Although Austria is a small country, it is, particularly with
its capital Vienna, amongst the leading conference venues of
the world. As for incentives there are lots of things to be
done that add this extra element, that distinguishes it from
an ordinary touristic trip, particularly adding imperial lustre
and musical ambience, not to speak of the well kept beautiful
landscapes.
It is very important for the decision makers in the various
companies to get a wider knowledge of what is available in the
market of MICE travel, in order to make their own work more
effective by making informed decisions as to how to allocate
best their resources.
This is why the emergence of a dedicated magazine together with
its unique web portal will play a substantial role in providing
this information in a direct and useful manner.
In an ever expanding economy MICE China Magazine will undoubtedly
have a successful future. and I personally wish the publisher
a lot of success and many years of profitable business.
