RFID Tour Guide Serves Jiuhuashan Mountain
09/10/2006
Jiuhuashan Mountain Scenic Spot, one of the four major Buddhist mountains in China, has launched an RFID-enabled electronic tour guide service supplied by Shanghai Zhenzhuo Electronics Technology Company.
Jiuhuashan Mountain tourism officials say it is the first among all scenic spots in China that has launched this kind of service. The service is available in three languages: Mandarin, English and Korean.
By adopting the RFID technology from Shanghai Zhenzhuo Electronics Technology Company, visitors to the area will rent a small device that automatically provides commentary and introductions as the visitors encounter the exhibitions.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is an object that can be attached to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. Chip-based RFID tags contain silicon chips and antennas. Passive tags require no internal power source, whereas active tags require a power source.
