United Airlines to Add Three Weekly Flights from Hong Kong to San Francisco
17/10/2006
Commencing April 2007, United Airlines (United) will add three early evening flights from Hong Kong to San Francisco, bringing its weekly total on this route to 10. The additional flights form part of 40 new weekly, year-round flights announced by the carrier to strengthen its network between the Asia Pacific region and the U.S. over the next six months.
¡°As the world¡¯s largest transpacific passenger carrier, we¡¯re pleased to be offering additional flights to our customers in Hong Kong,¡± said Andrew Stephen, General Manager, Hong Kong. ¡°The new evening flights will offer business travelers the option of working most of the day in Hong Kong and still arriving in San Francisco later the same day. It will also provide passengers, including our customers from Southern China that transit through Hong Kong to the U.S., with a broader choice of service.¡±
Under the new timetable, United will fly a Boeing 777 point-to-point nonstop between Hong Kong and San Francisco according to the following schedule:
UA 874 HKG-SFO 18:10 - 15:52 Every Mon, Thu and Sat
UA 873 SFO-HKG 11:08 - 16:15 Every Wed, Fri and Sun
In addition to daily flights to San Francisco, United currently operates 10 nonstop flights a week from Hong Kong to Chicago and daily intra-Asia flights to Tokyo, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City. Once the additional three flights commence, the airline will operate 41 flights from Hong Kong each week.
United is also expanding flight services in other cities within the transpacific network, including:
- The launch of United¡¯s first-ever nonstop Boeing 777 service between Tokyo Narita and the airline¡¯s Washington Dulles hub commencing on October 28, 2006;
- The expansion of United's service between Seoul and San Francisco from seasonal to year round effective October 2006;
- The reinstatement of United's daily B747-400 nonstop service between Taipei and San Francisco from April 2007.
This year, United is celebrating its 20th anniversary of flying to the Asia Pacific region. United serves 13 Asia Pacific cities including Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Melbourne, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo.
