MCI expands into the Asia Pacific Region;
Entire MCI Management Board in Malaysia 3-4 September 2007
Shanghai, China, 30 August 2007 MCI, the global association, communications and event management company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is gearing up to make a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region. MCI will bring its entire MCI Management Board to Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia on 3-4 September 2007 for its semi-annual meeting. The Management Board counts 21 individuals representing the senior leaders throughout MCI 19 offices worldwide.
Originally a Swiss-based event management company that grew to be a substantial pan-European company, MCI’s vision now is to Build Community throughout all regions of the world. MCI foresees strong growth in the Asia Pacific region for the association and events sector. To manage this growth, Robin Lokerman, CEO of MCI’s Institutional Division and a member of MCI’s four-person Executive Committee, has relocated from Europe to Asia, based at MCI’s Singapore office.
With support from several MICE partners, including the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia Tourism Centre and Malaysia Airlines, MCI leaders will experience Asian hospitality first-hand during their two-day management meeting.
Our first expansion into Asia with MCI Singapore in 2005 succeeded beyond our initial projections. We soon opened in Shanghai and in less than one year of operations, our MCI Shanghai office has already partnered with several elite associations and corporations to manage activities for their communities. With this success we are ready to invest into a long-term business plan for Asia and expand our growth into several additional Asian countries,said Roger Tondeur, President and Founder of MCI.
In addition to our supporters for this upcoming meeting, other industry organisations are welcoming MCI’s presence in this region. Keynote speeches or educational workshops led by MCI have been conducted throughout China , Korea , Taiwan , Singapore and Australia . MCI will lead one discussion topic at the upcoming Asia for Asia Summit in Thailand , this October 2007.
Robin Lokerman added, MCI’s growth throughout the Asia region will happen faster that our growth in Europe the last few years. We are already poised to announce two new Asia offices before 2007 ends and have plans in place for additional expansion in 2008. I look forward to leading MCI’s development into this region, as I truly believe in the growth of this region. The 21st Century will be Asian-focused!
