Meeting Professionals International Forms Ground-Breaking Partnership with Canadian Tourism Commission
DALLAS ¨C Feb. 13, 2008 ¨C Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has joined forces with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) in the formation of the Canadian Tourism Global Partnership, the first official member of the MPI Global Partnership program. This industry-changing collaboration teams MPI with an organization that represents one of the world¡¯s largest tourism markets, and further expands and enhances the marketplace opportunities for MPI members throughout its global community.
In a monumental first step in the formation of MPI¡¯s Global Partnership and International Module, the Canadian Tourism Global Partnership embraces MPI¡¯s new approach to building creative, fully integrated partnerships within its ever-expanding global community. This global partnership further capitalizes on opportunities throughout MPI¡¯s marketplace channels, while upholding MPI¡¯s commitment of delivering success for its more than 23,000 worldwide members.
A national marketing organization with partners in the tourism industry and all levels of government, the CTC promotes the growth and profitability of the Canadian tourism industry by marketing Canada as a desirable travel destination. The organization¡¯s vision to compel the world to explore its country supported Canada¡¯s successful efforts to secure the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2006, tourism revenues in Canada rose to $67.1 billion, an increase of 7.1 percent over 2005 revenues.
Representing the first partnership between the two organizations outside the United States, the Canadian Tourism Global Partnership builds on the success of MPI-World Education Conference (MPI-WEC) in Montreal in 2007, and the up-coming MPI-WEC in 2010 to be held in Vancouver. This agreement further demonstrates the Canadian Tourism Commission's commitment to MPI and its members, as well as the CTC¡¯s support of MPI's global educational programs including its Professional Education Conference (PEC), World Education Conference (WEC), The European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC) and The Gulf Meetings and Events Conference.
¡°We are honored that an organization of such high caliber and prestige as the Canadian Tourism Commission has signed on as one of the first partners in our MPI Global Partnership,¡± said Bruce MacMillan, president and CEO of MPI. ¡°In addition to bringing together two outstanding organizations, this partnership provides our members with numerous marketplace opportunities while further widening their net of industry resources.¡±
