More exhibitors from Asia
at German trade fairs
12/09/2007
The number of foreign exhibitors at trade fairs in Germany
has increased by 6% on a 2005/2006 comparison. Well above-average
increases were registered in participations from South, East
and Central Asia - by over 22%, while the number of exhibitors
from the EU declined by 1%. This was revealed by an analysis
conducted by AUMA - Association of the German Trade Fair Industry.
The share of exhibitors from South, East and Central Asia
rose by almost four percentage points from 24.0% to 27.8%.
Responsible for this increase, in particular, was the explosive
increase in participations from the PR China (+32% to a current
total of 9,056 exhibitors) and from Taiwan (+37% to 4,844
exhibitors). Apparently the companies from the PR
China are again concentrating their participations on the
established international trade fairs in Germany, because
the special Chinese presentations registered rather limited
growth, some events will no longer be held in future. In China's
shadow, the participations from India also increased considerably,
by 31% to 2.683. Strong growth was also registered by Indonesia
(+14%), Korea (+14%), Singapore (+29%) and Vietnam (+13%).
The number of exhibitors from the Middle East increased overall
by more than 9%.
The largest number of participations at German trade fairs
was registered as previously - however, with a considerably
reduced lead ¨C from Italy with 10,127 exhibitors, followed
by the PR China (9,056) and Great Britain (5,280).
A leap from 8th place to 4th was made by Taiwan (4,844). It
is followed by the Netherlands (4,830), the USA (4,782), France
(4,749) and Spain(4,099). 9th place is taken by Switzerland
with 3,445 par-ticipations, ahead of Austria (3,394) and India
(2,683).
The country with the widest spectrum of trade fairs was Austria
with participations at 153 events, just ahead of the Netherlands
(152), Switzerland (150), France (149) and Italy (147).
