Discovery World Cruises celebrates fourth anniversary
29/06/2006
Destination specialist Discovery World Cruises, which celebrates its fourth anniversary in January, will continue to offer an intriguing portfolio of exotic cruise vacations that virtually blanket the globe.
In 2007, travelers will find an incredibly compelling collection of cruising grounds to choose from, including Antarctica, South America, the South Pacific, Europe and Scandinavia.
"There is no other cruise line, large or small, that offers the combination of exotic ports, onboard comforts and service, and incredible value that we do," said Mark Flager, vice president of sales, marketing and passenger services for Discovery. "We pair each voyage with a hotel stay or onboard overnights in port for an expanded shore-side experience."
Founded in 2003 by cruise and tour pioneer Gerry Herrod, the cruise line has established itself as a leader in the destination cruise niche with itineraries that are among the most interesting in the cruise industry.
In 2007, the line will return to the archipelago made famous by Charles Darwin for its second season with six different itineraries. Time-pressed travelers can discover the Galapagos Islands on a 13-night cruisetour from Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, to Quito, Ecuador, in January. The reverse direction, a 12-night itinerary, is offered in April.
Two 16-night itineraries also focus on the Galapagos, plus ports in Peru and in Chile. Two combination cruisetours are also offered. A 30-night itinerary combines the Galapagos with the Antarctic Peninsula.
A 24-night itinerary blends the natural splendor of the Galapagos and the South Pacific with the manmade wonder of the Panama Canal.
From the equatorial waters of Ecuador, Discovery heads south to the frozen frontier of Antarctica for its fourth consecutive year. Passengers discover the White Continent up-close via inflatable Zodiac boats. In addition to scenic cruising, they have the opportunity to go ashore at select sites of interest. A team of esteemed scientists, naturalists and Antarctic explorers serves as field guides, escorting all excursions.
