CHAMPION BEASTS RING IN THE YEAR OF THE FIRE BOAR AT THE KUALA LUMPUR CONVENTION CENTRE
To mark the Chinese New Year, delighted visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) were greeted with a roaring sight as reigning Lion Dance World Champion, Kun Seng Keng Dragon and Lion Dance Association from Muar, Johor performed stunning feats of acrobatic dexterity to ring in the Fire Boar recently.
The two-hour performance saw the nimble-footed ‘lions’ graciously accepting symbolic mandarins and ‘roaming’ the Centre’s extensive exhibition halls, grand ballrooms, Plenary Hall and administrative offices to the cadence of traditional Chinese percussions.
The Cantonese term for mandarins, kum rhymes with ‘gold’, which makes the seasonal fruit elemental in ushering prosperity, vigour and success for the Centre in the year ahead.
