Original in concept, the Convention Center boasts three major attributes. First, its projection and sound equipment, as well as its acoustics, are superb, since it will also serve as a Multiplex Cinema. Second, it is privately owned and operated by a firm belonging to the Mediagestion Group, which has perfected operations in theaters for half a century and now has expanded into communications and catering. Third, the level of services and staffing will be geared to the highest international standards, compatible with both U.S. and European Union specifications.
On the ground level of the fully air-conditioned Palais is a huge lobby and exhibition hall total-ing some 45,000 sq. ft. Here, too, are restaurants, a book and record store, pharmacy, etc. On the second level are a dozen theaters ranging in size from 125 to 500 tiered or movable seats, a VIP lounge, a 645-sq.-ft. banquet hall, modular meeting rooms with 300 sq. ft., and a 265-sq.-ft. terrace with seaviews.
Technical equipment includes 100 direct telephone lines, an electronic noticeboard in the lobby, all-wave TV connections, full computer availability, a permanent interpreters' booth, and an infrared interpreting system, as well as secretarial service on request.
